It’s About Knowing Him
John 11:24-26
“Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
Martha and her sister Mary were very much distraught over the death of their brother Lazarus. Our text indicates that Martha believed in the resurrection and knew that Lazarus would “rise again in the resurrection at the last day”. She believed in the doctrine of the resurrection but she was missing the truth that Jesus was the resurrection. Jesus identified Himself as the resurrection, and the life! He proved it by calling forth Lazarus from the grave! This is similar to when we believe in and practice prayer but miss the One we are praying through. One may search and study the Bible but if we miss seeing Christ we have missed the most important truth of all. It is possible to go through the motions of being a Christian but miss Christ.
When you pray what is most on your mind, what you are praying about or who you are praying to?
