Knowing God Through Christ1 John 1:1-3“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.”Recently I was asked, “How do you know God is real?”At first the question surprised me, because I was not expecting it. But my answer and the conversation following centered on Jesus Christ and my salvation through Him.In our text John is showing us that from the beginning to now the Father has manifested Himself to us. We have read, seen, handled of the Word of life. That life was manifested to us, through Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of the Father. Through Christ we see the Father. In John 14:9 Jesus said, “…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father…” John 10:30 “I and my Father are one.” Discovering God is a personal experience and the path to this experience varies from person to person. But for all one truth remains the same, the way to know God and who He is comes through Jesus Christ.John 14:6, 7“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.”God made Himself real to the world through Jesus Christ.
