"THE PROMISE OF SALVATION FROM THE PRISON OF SIN"Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. THE LORD LOOSETH THE PRISONERS:" (Psalm 146:5-7) (CAPS MINE)D.L. Moody said, "The only way I have of knowing what God will do in the future is by remembering what He's done in the past." Examine the Scriptures and your heart will beat afresh with the testimonies of those whose faith in their ever-faithful God wrought freedom from the Gutter of Guilt to know that Grace from Glory. See a young Joseph being set free from Pharaoh's prison house by the Mighty will of God (Genesis 41). Consider the nation of Israel being redeemed after centuries living in bondage in Egypt (Exodus 12:31-51). Rejoice with Jeremiah, the weeping prophet, who was bound with chains, yet he simply trusted God and experienced freedom's joy in Babylon to return to Judah and dwell there alongside that phony puppet of a governor. Gedaliah (Jeremiah 40:1-6). Oh, the list of names is a long one of the many others that the Scriptures recorded for our remembrance. When we turn to the New Testament, we discover a prayer meeting being held for Peter's release and what a night of delivery that was (Acts 12:7-11). Oh, and that mighty miracles Paul and Silas there at Philippi (Acts 16:23-28). Never forget the miracles that our Saviour performed in the 4 Gospels. Why, there isn't a library anywhere around that could shelve all the books of the countless things Christ performed (John 21:25). Yes, the Lord Jesus went about doing good to the multitudes (Acts 10:38).Folks, our Great Deliverer has done it before, and He can do it again! Over the past centuries, the Lord's promises have broken those former chains of condemnation and snapped the fetters of filthiness which handcuffed and imprisoned many. This very hour, America, and other Countries around the World, are being held captive. Multitudes are sloshing around in that constant and increasing stream of sin's stench that has been flowing thru their streets for a good number of years. The need, the need indeed is deliverance. Even as the curtain of time is drawing to a close, the Lord Jesus longs to deliver countless prisoners today who are bound by habits, hopelessness, and in Hell's grip.No one, in and of themselves, has the strength to open the iron fist of the wicked one to free themselves. Only the Almighty Power of God can liberate any and all from the devil's dirty dungeon of defilement. He and He alone is the Beloved Emancipator of the oppressed who live in sin as slaves to Satan.Friends, what a marvelous Gospel you and I have in these earthen vessels, where we temporarily reside for a brief number of years, to proclaim to an innumerable company of captive souls whose hurting hearts need to hear that proclamation of God's Eternal Pardon, "The Lord looseth the prisoners."
