How many times have you heard those in authority, whether it is parents, teachers, police, judges, politicians, etc. have lied trying to supposedly protect the young and inexperienced? Don’t pick your nose or your eyes will fall out. Don’t smoke cigarettes or it will stunt your growth? Girls shouldn’t sit on a boys lap or they will get pregnant. Don’t masturbate or you will go blind, grow hair on your palms and go insane. Always trust and obey authority. Don’t smoke marijuana or you will get addicted to drugs and die. Don’t kiss a person with a cold sore or you will get AIDS. Go to sleep now or the boogeyman will get you. Vaccinations are perfectly safe and do not cause autism. GMO’s are perfectly safe and beneficial to all mankind. JFK was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald. There is no such thing as the Illuminati. Eat all of your broccoli, lima beans and Brussels’ sprouts so you will grow to be big and strong. (Have you ever seen a vegan bodybuilder?) Or if you burp, fart and sneeze at the same time your body will turn inside-out. When parents lie to their children it is usually done with the best of intentions. When teachers lie, it is usually to make their job easier. When police lie, it is usually out of a false sense of duty. When judges, politicians and businesses lie it is because of greed, graft and corruption. Regardless of intentions lying is always wrong. Eventually most of us grow up and the truth becomes apparent. Most people get angry over being taken advantage of and lied to. Some people refuse to believe that they have been made a fool and continue to live in denial. Unfortunately authority figures have come to rely on the fact that for everyone that finally realizes they have been lied to and lose all trust and respect in authority there is always someone new and naïve ready to take their place.
