This is for all you who are about to graduate. Life is not fair, deal with it. The world does not care about your self-esteem; the world expects you to accomplish something of value before you feel good about yourself. You will not earn $100,000 a year and you won’t be a vice-president with a corner office right out of high school and probably not even college. If you think your teacher is tough wait until you get a boss. Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity, your grandparents called flipping burgers a learning opportunity. If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ or your teachers or your bosses’ fault, so stop whining about your mistakes and learn from them. Before you were born your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, wiping your nose, cleaning your clothes, feeding you, listening to how cool you think you are and trying to teach you how to act human. So, before you go off on how you want to go save the rain forest or the whales from the parasites of their generation try delousing your own closet and scrubbing down your own room. Your school may have done away with winners and losers or failing grades but life has not! You may get as many tries as you want to get the right answer in class, but this doesn’t bare the slightest resemblance to anything in real life. Life is not divided into semesters and you don’t get summers off, so if you want to find yourself, do it on your own time. Television is not real life; real people have to leave the coffee shop and go to work. Be nice to nerds. Chances are you will end up working for one.
