The Same God2 Kings 2:14“And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.”When Elisha accepted the office and mantle of the prophet Elijah, he was not looking for the good old days of Elijah. He was looking for the God of Elijah. Elisha’s faith was in the same God. He knew times were changing and he was not looking to try to recreate the past but to live in and minister in the future with faith in the same God of Elijah. God has not changed! The church does not need to go back to the past, we need to go into the future with faith in the same God who never changes!Malachi 3:6 “For I am the LORD, I change not…”Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”The same God that was with Elijah and Elisha, and Paul and Peter, and all great Christians and churches of yesteryear is the same God today. We can go forward into a changing and uncertain future resting our faith in the truth that God never changes! The God in our future is the same God of the past.Rest your faith in God!Onward for Jesus!
