From the earliest development of human civilization back when we were still roaming the savannas of Africa and dwelling in caves near the seashore, we found that survival came easier when we cooperated with each other to form groups larger than our immediate families. This cooperation was the beginning of society. To establish and maintain order in these groups as they grew in size hierarchy needed to be formed so leaders could institute centralized authority and control the direction and make decisions for that society, supposedly for the benefit of everyone. Unfortunately, not all leaders are alike as humans are subject to mistakes, foibles, faults, poor judgement, vanity, selfishness and greed. Those having acquired considerable power over society are usually redescent to relinquish that power, so much so that any threat to their authority is met with official condemnation of one sort or another. Leadership establishes the official narrative for the group in the form of rules and regulations and enforces those rules with violence when necessary. So, then any challenge to their established authority or even the official narrative could be punishable by death! Things have not changed over the past 10,000 years, only the groups (nations) have grown much larger and leaders much more powerful. Groups within groups such as academia, scientific, religious, political and other social groups basically operate in a similar fashion rebuffing any challenge to their authority and established narrative, going out of their way to ostracize, banish, expel or exclude those do and ignore, deny, oppress, repress, suppress, debunk any information or evidence to the contrary.
