DOES SUICIDE SEND ONE TO HELL? No, salvation and eternal security are determined by one’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, not by any good or evil deed that he might commit. If a person is a true believer in Christ, then he goes to heaven when he dies. If he's not, then he goes to hell. How he dies is irrelevant. A good Bible example is Samson. This man willingly took his own life by bringing a building down on himself (Jgs. 16:30), yet his name is listed among the faithful saints of God in Hebrews 11:32. Much the same could be said of many martyrs and soldiers who could have saved their own lives by using different words or taking different actions, yet they chose death instead of life. Even Jesus gave up his own life (John 10:18), yet no one believes that this sent him to hell.So, the real issue becomes the REASON for one ending his own life rather than the ending of the life itself, but even then it becomes a non-issue, since there is no scripture that says a person receives eternal damnation for taking his own life for ANY reason. If a Christian does so for selfish and sinful reasons, then he will suffer a very sad loss of rewards at the judgment seat of Christ (II Cor. 5:10; Rom. 14:10; I Cor. 3:11-15; II John 8), but his salvation is secure in Christ, since his sins were judged at Calvary. In fact, Romans 8:38 assures us that not even death itself can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ: “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor princi-palities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 8:39-39) The main issue is not whether a person commits this or that sin, but rather whether or not he has had all of his sins forgiven by exercising faith in the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:1; Rev. 1:5).
