IdentificationGalatians 2:20“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”Acts 11:26“And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.”The Apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 2:20 “Christ liveth in me”. In Acts 11:26 we find written that the early church and its members were so Christ-like in their beliefs and daily living that those outside the church called them, labeled them, Christians. We find here a truth that should resonate in our heart. Christ identifies Himself with us and we should identify ourselves with Christ. Sometimes I wonder if some Christians are more concerned about identifying themselves with “a Christian movement” or man than they are about being identified with Jesus Christ.Vance Havner said, “If a man started out to be ‘just a Christian’, he probably would gather a band of ‘just Christians’ around him, and soon there would be another denomination.”Are you more concerned about identifying yourself with a man or particular movement than you are with Christ? Is it evident in your life that Christ lives in you?Would others call you a Christian? Are you more concerned about what others think about your Christian life than what God thinks? We ought to consider the answer to these sobering questions very carefully.
