"COME AND DINE" "Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord." (John 21:12)My wife and I certainly miss those long-ago days when we'd sit at the table with our three young children and enjoy spending time together as a family. We were busy with the responsibilities of making a home, but we were never too busy for those precious moments together with our children. Those times were not only times of nourishment, but also opportunities of nurturing for them.We'd talk about the events of the day, and my wife and I would carefully listen as they'd share their ups and downs. It may not have seemed like world changing events to others with all their decisions at hand, but to them, their problems loomed large in their little minds. Even today, our grown children fondly recall those golden days of sitting down and dining together because they knew Mom and Dad cared and had a ready ear to listen to all they were facing.You know, our Heavenly Father invites us every day to COME AND DINE at His table where we will also discover that it is a time of both nourishment and nurturing.When we gladly accept Jesus' invitation to COME AND DINE, we'll soon learn more of His grace, His gladness, and His goodness just like our own little ones learned decades ago.As I stated at the outset of this post, my wife and I certainly do miss those days at the table with our children, and we always look forward to those times now of sitting down together during holidays and other occasions and still listening to all they're facing as adults.Remember when you first trusted Christ and how you looked forward to sitting with Him every day. Oh, the wonderful times you had. But now, now you've aged a bit, and you no longer seem to find the time to COME AND DINE at your Master's table. Do you think Jesus misses that? I believe He does. Listen, can you hear the Saviour calling out from the Scriptures today, COME AND DINE?Friends, it's there and only there at His table where we'll find a listening heart and a lending hand as we partake of His Victuals for Victory!
