ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY: JULY 23rd 1958, REPUBLICAN Dwight Eisenhower met at the Oval Office with Martin Luther King, Philip Randolph, Roy Wilkins and other activists. They discussed safeguarding civil rights for African-Americans against their Democrat oppressors. This was the first time a President had met publicly with African-American leaders at the White House since another Republican, Theodore Roosevelt, had dined with Booker T. Washington fifty-seven years before. https://rumble.com/v3qk92a-oscar-gifford-south-dakotas-first-congressional-delegate.html
