NEVER TURN DOWN A GREAT DEAL Imagine, if you will, a man who walks into an auto dealership and has this conversation . . . SALESMAN: Congratulations, sir! We've been in business for over sixty years and YOU are our one millionth customer! This is your lucky day because any vehicle on our lot is YOURS for the asking! CUSTOMER: This is some kind of a joke, right? SALESMAN: No joke, sir. Just take your pick. CUSTOMER: You mean I can drive away in that red Mustang or in that black King Ranch four wheel drive? SALESMAN: That's right. What's it going to be? CUSTOMER: I'll take the truck! Wait. What's the catch? There must be some catch. SALESMAN: Well, yes, you might call it that. In order to claim the new vehicle, we get to burn your old truck. It's a different brand than we sell, so we want it off the road. We burn your old truck and you drive away in the new King Ranch. CUSTOMER: But there's nothing wrong with my old truck. If you don't want it as a trade in, I'll keep it as a second vehicle. SALESMAN: Can't do that. We get to burn it, else you don't get the new truck. CUSTOMER: That's stupid. I'll not allow you to burn my truck. SALESMAN: Then you can't have the new truck, a $60,000 value. Instead, you'll be stuck with that $600 pile of scrap. CUSTOMER: Fine, you can keep your truck, and I'll keep mine. And I won't be coming here again. With that the man drives away in anger WITHOUT a brand new truck. That's what a sinner does when he chooses to cling to his own self-righteousness instead of forsaking his own righteousness and receiving the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Some people become true winners by making the greatest deal of all time, while others become the biggest losers of all time. The choice is yours. "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." (Rom. 10:3-4)
