The New Life
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
It has been about 50 years since I trusted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and was saved. From that first day until now I can look back over my life and see the change that has taken place. I can remember all the times that I failed God and sinned. I can remember the working of the Holy Spirit, the conviction of sin, the chastisement, and the Holy Spirit leading me to repentance. I can testify to the periods of change when the old things were passed away and the new was taking place.
I do not claim to understand all there is to know about the love of God, this I do know- “For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.”
2 Corinthians 5:14-15.
I know God loves me and I know I must serve Him with all my heart. I know there was no way I could make the changes in my life that needed to take place and I know there is no way I can make the changes in my life that still need to take place. I know that I am “in Christ”, I am “born again” (John 3:3, 7), I am “saved” (Romans 19:9, 10, 13). And because I am fully confident of being “a new creature” in Christ I am equally confident that “He’s still working on me, to make me what I ought to be” (He’s Still Working On Me; Joel Hemphill).
In what ways can you confidently testify that Jesus Christ and His salvation has changed your life?
