"please don't try to understand others, that is not the way..."
-OSHO
A profound spiritual philosophy that calls for introspection and self-realization is reflected in Osho's words. True enlightenment comes from inside, as this statement so powerfully and demonstratively shows.
Humans' inherent biases, preconceived notions, and erroneous interpretations make it difficult, if not impossible, to gain a true understanding of other people. When we look at another person, our impressions of them are usually more reflective of our own character and worldview than they actually are. When we attempt to classify people based on our preconceived notions, we risk misinterpreting their true nature.
Osho instead suggests that we put in the effort to learn more about ourselves. When it comes to discovering one's true nature, he says introspection and self-reflection are key. For instance, it is possible to become better at recognizing and controlling our reactions and emotions if we have a firm grasp on the reasons behind our particular emotional responses to various stimuli. In a similar vein, being aware of our own inherent biases and unfounded prejudices can assist us in letting them go and cultivating a more balanced and objective viewpoint.
An insightful concept that Osho alludes to is that each person is a mini universe that encompasses the whole range of existence. For example, we are capable of experiencing a wide variety of emotions—happy, sad, angry, calm, and many more—within ourselves. Like the cosmic processes of creation and dissolution, we too go through cycles of change and growth.
Also, everyone's own set of life experiences and surroundings have molded their distinct perspectives, ideas, and understandings of the world. Therefore, comprehending the depths and multiplicity of the cosmos is the same as comprehending oneself.
Finally, a spiritual awakening is prompted by Osho's words, which calls for an inward journey. A journey that challenges us to consider, understand, and tap into our full potential. The more we learn about ourselves, the more we'll understand about the universe. 🙂
