"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)Do you find some days that life is wearing you to a frazzle? Are you tired of trying to get it all done by yourself? How about paying those monthly bills, making sure the family needs are met, and those hundreds of other little things that demand our attention?Well, Jesus tells us, "Come unto me." He then goes on and bids us, "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me." When we're yoked with Christ, He guarantees us, "Ye shall find rest unto your souls." Are you yoked to Jesus Christ?I remember reading years ago about yokes. Yokes are usually for a tandem pair of oxen. Younger oxen would often plow with the older more experienced ones. Can you Imagine yoking up with Jesus? Talk about experience, He went through life without a single spot of sin. He can teach us how to plow through life. When we're yoked with Jesus, we will learn from Him. He is gentle and humble in heart. He will never bawl us out or embarrass us because we didn't get it right. He will gently correct, instruct, and direct us. Learning from Him is a place of rest for our soul. That means our thoughts, emotions, and impending decisions can find and know the peace of His perfect plan for our greater good and God's glory. When we're yoked together with our Saviour, we'll gladly find that our Lord has it all under control. He teaches us to trust in the Father and respond to His leading. When we do that, everything comes out best in the long run. We can trust in His wonderful knowledge about all things and His power to do anything. That will certainly make the yoke lighter and the load we pull much easier. Now remember, He plowed through this path of life before any of us ever arrived on the scene. He broke up and plowed the soil for our salvation that we could never have pulled the plow through alone to attain and know the riches His red-blooded redemption. Therefore, let's stay in the yoke with Him. May none of us ever try to go it by ourselves or plow with any yoke other than the one Jesus wants us to take. We'll find that without Him, we can do nothing, oh, but with Him, you and I can do all things through Him because He is our strength.Friends, which yoke are you wearing right now? How many of those heavy burdens are you pulling all by yourself? If the yoke is unbearably heavy, it may not be Jesus' yoke! Therefore, let's take and cast those burdens upon our Lord and stay in His yoke allowing Him to sustain and strengthen us.
