IF REPENTANCE IS ONLY A CHANGE OF MIND . . . Someone needs to tell Paul, because he said to repent AND turn to God, AND do WORKS works meet for repentance. (Acts 26:20) Someone needs to tell John, because he spoke of repenting OF murders, OF sorceries, OF fornication, and OF thefts. (Rev. 9:21) Someone needs to tell Peter, because he said repentance should be followed by HOLY CONVERSATION and GODLINESS. (II Pet. 3:9-11) Someone needs to tell Moses, because he spoke of repenting OF EVIL. (Exo. 32:12-14) Someone needs to tell the writer of Hebrews, because he said repentance was A PLACE SOUGHT WITH TEARS. (Heb. 12:17) Someone needs to tell John the Baptist, because he said that repentance involved FRUITS. (Mat. 3:8) Someone needs to tell Jesus, because He said repentance was followed by WORK and TURNING FROM EVIL. (Mat. 21:28-29; Mat. 12:41 with Jonah 3:10) Someone needs to tell David, because he thought repentance meant REVERSING AN ACTION (Psa. 110:4) Someone needs to tell God, because He is the first one to repent in the Bible, and when He did, He DESTROYED most of the life on earth. (Gen. 6-8) God's word speaks of repentance over one hundred times without ever defining it as a mere "change of mind" with no action being mentioned or implied. Obviously, repentance STARTS with a change of mind, but it is never LIMITED to a change of mind or defined as a change of mind without action in the context. A change of mind that never changes YOU is a fake change of mind and is not to be trusted. True repentance produces action all through the word of God, and although the repentance itself is in the mind, it always manifests itself in action. Therefore, anyone who says that repentance is ONLY a "change of mind" is guilty of disrespecting context and subtracting from the word of God. Such people are too shallow to be teaching or preaching anything. Mark and avoid them (Rom. 16:17-18).
