The Difference MakerHebrews 4:2“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.”I know for a fact that the day I trusted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour there was someone else at church that needed to be saved. I was saved and he was not.How can it be?What was the difference between me and them? How is it that the same Gospel message saves one but not the other? How can it profit one but not the other? Our verse clearly gives us the answer. In the one who it profits or believes and is saved, the message of the Gospel is mixed with faith. Faith in His Word, faith in the Gospel, faith being mixed with the message is the difference maker. The phrase “mixed with” in our verse means to unite, to assimilate. When genuine faith is united with the message of the Gospel, the result is salvation within the heart.Romans 10:9-10“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”Within your own heart is there faith being mixed with the truth of the Gospel?Faith mixed with the Word of God is the divine difference maker.
