The God ManMatthew 8:27“But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!”Mankind was given, by God, dominion over the fish, fowl, animals, creeping things, and pretty much all the earth. But man has never had dominion over the weather or the rivers and oceans. Mankind has tamed about every animal imaginable but we are powerless when it comes to controlling the weather, waters and waves. Our text tells of a day the disciples on the sea with Jesus, found out something about Jesus that previously they may not have known. They found out that Jesus Christ was fully man, but He was also fully God. He is the God man! He is the incarnate Son of God! He could calm both the winds and the sea, because He had created them.Colossians 1:16-17 says,“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”That day Jesus calmed the winds and sea. They both obeyed His command.Today Jesus can calm the winds and waves of our storms.We can trust Him!He is the God man!He is the only God man.He is sovereign and He cares about us.
