"SURE AND SETTLED FOR EVER" "But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you." (1 Peter 1:25) Heaven, we will continue to discover the deep and unsearchable riches of Christ in the Scriptures. When asked why he believed that he quoted the Words of the Greatest Bible Teacher found in Mark 13:31, "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away." One thing I'm sure of regarding that is what Peter tells us here in his first epistle, "But the word of the Lord endureth for ever."To be sure, all human teaching, as well as all human flesh, will one day indeed pass away like withered grass. But we are assured that the Word of the Lord is of sterner stuff and has an Author with infallible instructions and impeccable insight. His Words have staying Power and they are here to stay! God's Word, which we hold in our hands and hide in our hearts, is the ever-living life-changing message that we are to preach. It is Glory's Grandest News, and it's filled to the brim with Truth that the Holy Spirit prescribed for our victory.The thoughts of foolish men can change from one day to the next because they were WRONG to begin with; but the faithful Word of God will never change because it was RIGHT from the very beginning (Psalm 119:160). All Scripture, which has been certified by God, can no more change than the One Who inspired it. God has elevated His Word upon the highest of heights. In Psalm 138:2, the Psalmist declared, "...for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name." What we have then is not only unchangeable Truth, but unparalleled Truth, and it is Truth wherein we are not only redeemed by, but rejoice in. It proclaims itself throughout its 66 books as the Word of the Lord which we are to learn every day and lean on with every breath we breathe. Bible believers are confident that that God's Word is perfect to convert the soul and sure to make wise the simple (Psalm 19:7).Friends, the Word of the Lord is eternal. It is our everlasting Compass with Words for our direction and correction. Oh, that we would feed on God's eternal Manna, because it is indeed the Word of Truth from Heaven and is SURE AND SETTLED FOR EVER.
