The Greatest Liberty Of All Romans 8:21-23 “Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.” What was the cause for the founding of this freedom? The freedom to worship God, the Creator, Jehovah as the heart of the individual believer feels led by the Holy Spirit. Some would say that America’s freedom is the greatest freedom there is. Our verses speak of two types of freedom that only comes through salvation that is secured through Jesus Christ. The first is freedom from the bondage of corruption. Sin binds a person and makes a person from their heart a slave to the lust of sin. I have been asked more than one time, “Why do I keep going back to the same old sin?” When a person by faith receives Jesus Christ as their Saviour, He sets them free from their sin. The second is future, when the believer gets to heaven he or she will be set free from their old sin nature that groans and yearns for the redemption of the body. Today I celebrate as an American a great freedom, the freedom to worship God. But everyday I celebrate a greater freedom, the freedom to say no to sin and yes to serving my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
