Your Sin Will Find You Out
Numbers 32:23
“But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.”
In this verse Moses was working out an agreement with the children of Reuben and Gad for a certain area of land they wanted to inherit. Moses was letting them know that their agreement would be with God. If they did not do what they said they were going to do then they would be sinning against the LORD, “and be sure your sin will find you out”.
The same can be said of us today. It may seem to some people that they can hide their sin but in time their sin will find them out.
God always knows all about it and in time He will reveal it. The first place one’s sin is revealed is always in the heart of the sinner. God always gives the sinner a space to repent, to turn away from their sin and turn unto Him. When David committed adultery with Bathsheba, God knew of it and sent the prophet Nathan to confront David with his sin (2 Samuel 12). As David’s heart melted under conviction before the LORD, he wrote a Psalm (Psalm 51) testifying of this time.
In Psalm 51:3 David wrote,
“For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.”
It was not until David confessed his sin to God, that the joy of the Lord’s salvation could be restored in his heart (Psalm 51:7-12). It is quite evident that some people are miserable. Trying to live a life that is a lie, being someone that you know you were not created to be, and always trying to hide your sin equates to nothing but misery within your heart. Be sure your sin will find you out.
The revealing of it could be very ugly. The Bible clearly teaches your sin will find you out. The only way to forgiveness, peace, a clean conscience, and joy is through honest confession to Jesus Christ.
