"OUR GLORY FILLED TEMPLE" "And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD, So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD." (1 Kings 8:10-11)When Solomon had finished building the temple that David had planned, the priests stepped out of the Holy Place. Then a cloud filled the temple of the LORD. The people in those days associated clouds with the glory of God. Their ancestors had seen the cloud on Sinai when Moses met with God. The Glory of the LORD so filled the temple that the priests, at that time, could not come in and do their assigned duties. As Solomon recognized the Presence of God in the Temple, we too are reminded that God's Presence can be acknowledged and celebrated in our lives. Remember, before Calvary, God dwelt WITH His people, but now, Praise the Lord, He dwells IN His people (Matthew 1:23. John 14:17, 1 Corthinians 3:16).Now folks, our bodies are the temples of the LORD. Jesus referred to His own body as a temple when He said, "Destroy this temple (meaning His body) and in three days I will raise it up." (John 2:19) His body was so full of the Glory of God that He did nothing except what His Father showed Him. In other words, Jesus was yielded to the Glory of His Father. In John 1:14 we hear John declare, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth."You know, we are so wrapped up with what we do for OUR SELF that we often fail to wrap up that which should be done for OUR SAVIOUR. If we're not careful and focused, we'll end up living in the flesh instead of living by faith. That's why His Glory needs to fill our temple, our earthly body. Then there is no room for us to get in the way and make a mess of things. God's Glory needs to fill us so that He is the Source of our activity and we are merely submitted vessels for that Glory.Friends, who or even what, is the source of your activity for the Lord? Is your temple filled with the Glory of God?
