"THE SUFFICIENT GRACE OF GOD" "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." (2 Corinthians 12:9)Paul sought answers for his grief because of Satan's attacks. As he prayed, the answer came from Heaven with those words, "My grace is sufficient for thee."When disappointments, devastation, or death comes into our lives, there is usually an initial shock, much like the earthquake several years ago which caused a tsunami to hit the shore of that small fishing village of Ryoishi, Japan. The people there were caught off guard. They stood numb and spellbound as that 30-foot-high wave brought its terrible destruction sweeping many into eternity. Then came the aftershock, and with it was the reality that gripped them to the very core of their being. The grieving questions afterwards included, "Why did this happen? What will I do now? How will I survive?"To those who have experienced divorce, or the death of someone you love, you may find yourself numb and spellbound at first. Then as you go through the everyday motions of life, you too may experience, at some point, an aftershock and feel the loss again because something triggers the memory of that hurtful event. It may be a holiday, or a birthday, or an anniversary that will stir the emotions and bring back a realization that you have a life without them. But we can always depend on God’s abiding grace and mercy that will carry us through those moments.During times of grief and loss, we can still hold on to our Lord's promises as we exercise faith that there will be a brighter tomorrow and a new beginning. As we look back over our life, all of us have had our share of heartaches. We have experienced loss in one form or another. But as the years rolled by, it always looked like a new chapter in a book. One would end and a new one would begin. The Bible tells us in Lamentations 3:22-23, "It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." Those 5 words, "they are new every morning", should be our constant reminder to live life one day at a time basking in the Lord's faithfulness to us. The Lord did not say His mercies are new just every year, or every month, or every week. No No! Praise God, He said, "they are new every morning." Friends, rest your broken heart in God's grace which is sufficient, and "because his compassions fail not", tomorrow's grace and mercy will be there waiting for you every morning!
