My grandmother was born in 1886. Farm woman, her dogs were tied up at the doghouses pretty much all yr long. Fleas and flys bit the ears. Totally different era. I think back and weep thinking of those dogs living like that.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to keep a dog chained outside let alone in extreme weather conditions. That's uncaring and cruel.
