Why Do People Refuse The Lord’s Hand Of Help?Proverbs 1:23-24“Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;”Here in Proverbs we are once again shown an invitation by God where He calls out and stretches out His hand to help people to come unto Him. But His call and His hand is refused. This would be like a doctor offering a patient a way of healing for the disease they are inflicted with but the patient refusing the treatment that cures.Why do people refuse the Lord’s extended hand of grace?I want to believe the answer is their pride. The offer of the Lord is “reproof” and “counsel” (vs. 26, 30) and “knowledge”(v. 29). Maybe they believe their way of getting the help they need is better than His way. I have had people tell me, “I know what I need to do to get the help I need”, but the odd thing is they never do whatever it is they know to do to get that help. God is always calling out and offering His hand of help to the broken and hurting. But again, so many refuse His help.Why do you believe they refuse? Or maybe I could ask, why do you refuse His extended hand of help?
