"APPROACHING GOD WITH BOLDNESS" "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."(Hebrews 4:16) What we discover in this 4th chapter of Hebrews is a powerful reminder of God's promises, the effectiveness of His Word, and the comforting reality of Jesus as our empathetic High Priest. As believers, we're encouraged to approach God with faith, obedience, and confidence, and are assured of His grace and mercy. Now folks, who among us doesn't stand in need of mercy and grace every day? Songwriter Annie Hawks wrote, "I need Thee, O I need Thee; Every hour I need Thee! O bless me now my Saviour, I come to thee!" What a confidence it is then to know that our prayers are as quickly heard as they are quickly given. I believe one of the biggest problems in our prayer lives today is not unanswered prayers but unoffered prayers. Yet far too many of us continue on having not because we ask not. Unlike many of the phone calls we make, our calls and cries to God are never met with a busy signal or are we ask to leave a short message for the callee to return when they get around to it. We're never put on hold, transferred to someone else, have a dropped call, or have a bad signal. On the contrary, you and I have unlimited minutes whenever and wherever we are when we cry out to God. We can always count on the Lord Jesus to respond to our prayers. It may not be what we want, but it will always be what we need.Friends, with that glaring promise then in Hebrews encouraging each of us, let's look upward with bowed heads and believing hearts with this Biblical truth cheering our soul, "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace..."
