Proof That God Loves You, His ChildHebrews 12:5-6“And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.”Continuing from yesterday’s devotional thought, we see that when the Lord chastens His children it is proof that He loves us. We are not to despise or take it lightly when God chastens us. We are to recognize, receive, and respect His chastening hand. The chastisement of the Lord is not to hurt us but to help us. I have been asked this question more than once, “How does God chasten us?” My answer has always been the same, “Any way He chooses.” God knows His children and He knows that we are all different. Therefore, He knows how to chasten us. He knows what way is best or what to use to chasten us. He alone knows what way in which He should chasten us to bring about the desired result. His love for His child always tempers the chastening to perfection.
