It is far more likely that attempt was made under the direction of the warmongering EU via NATO because they seem hell bent on having another war in Europe and their "hate on" for Putin is no secret.
Trump wouldn't have ever "signed off" on this IF he was aware of it.
He simply isn't that insane.
But the current leaders of the UK , France, Germany, and the EU are totally that insane.
