THE GLOBAL CATASTROPHE OF THE GENESIS FLOOD
I'd like to offer a brief summary of what I think happened in Genesis 7 and 8. I can't fully prove all of this, and Dr. Walt Brown's Hydroplate Theory takes it much deeper than I intend to, but after many years of studying various sources, I have reached the conclusion that Noah's flood must have happened something like this . . .
According to Genesis 7:11, two things happened to cause the flood: (1) "all the fountains of the great deep" were "broken up" and (2) "the windows of heaven were opened."
Since there had not been any rain before this time (Gen. 2:5), the windows of heaven being opened must have been more than standard rain that we are accustomed to today. We do read of "the waters which were above the firmament" in Genesis 1:7, which some believe to have provided a water canopy around the earth, thus providing a global greenhouse paradise where 900-year lives could have been possible and even dinosaurs could have lived since oxygen levels would have been much higher. With the "opening" of this canopy, the earth was flooded with water, or rain, from above.
The second factor was the fountains of the great deep being broken up, and this is where it gets wild. Looking similar to stitches on a baseball, there are over 40,000 miles of ridges or risen "scars" on the surface of the earth. Something obviously put them there. It might very well be that these ridges were caused by the fountains of subterranean water being "broken up" and shooting into the sky. If so, this could have caused a very cataclysmic chain reaction of events. Along with the water shooting skyward would have also been mud and chunks of dirt and rock. Probably most of this fell back to the earth, but some could have even gone into orbit.
If any of this matter flew into orbit, it could have formed the asteroids and comets that scientists believe must have came from some "exploding planet" far away . . . when it all actually came from the planet on which they live and do their research! (Deu. 30:11-14!!)
That which didn't get spewed into orbit, but rather fell back to the earth, also left, shall we say, a LASTING IMPRESSION. First of all, the water itself can explain the entire fossil record and the so-called "geological column" where the simplest life forms are found at the bottom of the "column" and the more advanced life forms are found at the top. Rather than proving gradual evolution of life through millions of years, the evidence probably just shows how the dumbest animals died first in the flood while the smartest men lasted the longest . . . all in less than a year, probably less than a month.
Much of this subterranean water shooting into the sky would have frozen and fallen back to the earth in massive measure and very rapidly, thus creating the "ice age" that all the global warmers harp about and explaining such things as why woolly mammoths have been found frozen stiff, standing upright, with green vegetation in their stomachs. Naturally, all of this would bring an end to the "prehistoric world," as such creatures would not have been able to live with the lower oxygen levels of the new world.
Rather than being "carved out" over millions of years by the Colorado River, the Grand Canyon (and most every other canyon) would have been created by a much greater amount of water in a much shorter time frame. In other words, it didn't take a little water a long time; it took a LOT of water a LITTLE time.
Lastly, we have the Genesis flood to thank for our wonderful fossil fuels. Millions of animals AND PEOPLE (also known as "combustible geologic deposits of organic materials" !!! ) were buried beneath all of this falling and floating matter, only to decay and eventually be converted into crude oil, coal, natural gas, etc. Even the Sinclair Oil Company seems to have some knowledge of this, considering the fact that their logo is a friendly green dinosaur.
Now, maybe I don't have all of that just perfect, but SOMETHING like that happened in Genesis chapters 7 and 8, and we should be thankful for those true scientists who have labored to bring such truths to light, many of them being Christians. Are they all KJV men? No, most are not, but neither were Scofield and Larkin, yet we value their works. We should stop our silly bickering and gnat straining and we should start valuing the works of those who have attempted to show evidences of the Genesis flood while most others in their fields are casting doubt on it and creating infidels.
"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."
