Is That A Sin?James 4:17 - “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”It has been hard for me to accept that we now live in a day where people believe there is no such thing as sin. I think I know why they want to believe this lie of Satan. It is because if there is no such thing as sin, then I have no one (including God) in which one is accountable to, therefore I can live with no restraints. I think there are some people who believe if what I do does not harm anyone but me, then it must be ok to do. Then there is the belief if there is no law against it then it must be ok to do.The question we must answer is what does the Bible say about sin? In our verse the Bible simplifies sin as the failure to do what is right. In the context of the text, in which our verse was taken, the theme is the uncertainty of life and living as though you are guaranteed you will have a tomorrow to live in. None of us are guaranteed a tomorrow. There is no guarantee that one’s failure to do right today can be fixed tomorrow. A simple and yet profound way to live is just do right!Do right according to what God says in His Word, the Bible. And know, when you fail to do right when you know what right is, then your failure is sin before God.
