~Red Right BlueThe Israeli embassy staffers killed overnight into Thursday at the Washington shooting attack were Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgram.The two were a couple and were shot as they left an event hosted by the American Jewish Committee (AJC) at the city's Jewish museum. Israel's ambassador to the U.S., Yechiel Leiter, said Lischinsky had planned to propose to Milgram next week.Lischinsky worked as a research assistant on Middle East and North Africa affairs in the embassy's political department. He immigrated to Israel from Germany at age 16, and wrote on his LinkedIn profile that he was "proud to call both Jerusalem and Nuremberg home."He also wrote that he believed "in the vision of the Abraham Accords, and that expanding the circle of peace with our Arab neighbors and pursuing cooperation is in Israel's and the region's interest."Sarah Milgram worked in the embassy's public diplomacy department. She studied international relations at American University in Washington and went on to earn a master's degree in natural resources and sustainable development at the University for Peace in Costa Rica.On her LinkedIn profile, she wrote that she was interested in the intersection of "peacebuilding, religious commitment and environmental work," and that she was dedicated to fostering understanding between different peoples and promoting interfaith harmony."The entire embassy staff is heartbroken and devastated," read a post on the X account of Israel's embassy in the U.S. "A terrorist shot and killed them as they left an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington.
