Open letter to President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Prime Minister Mark Carney
Abandoning our democratic allies in their darkest hour to appease terror organizations is not just a foreign policy failure. It is a moral one. It reveals the true measure of the values you claim to uphold: democracy, human rights, and the sanctity of human life. This moment tests whether you stand for those ideals or surrender them for short-term political gain.
The question of Israel’s right to self-defense has become a distorted political barometer, one that fractures humanity and manufactures a false divide: Jews versus Muslims, West versus East, Israel versus the world. In doing so, it condemns innocent civilians on both sides of that divide to more death and suffering at the hands of terrorists, while fueling dangerous polarization in your own countries, undermining national security, national unity, and the broader national interest.
We want to believe your intent was peace, that your goal was to stop the death of thousands of children in the coming days. But it was not. That was the headline, not the truth. Your actions had nothing to do with humanitarian relief or regional stability. They were driven by a political calculus, appeasing a growing Muslim voting bloc at the expense of your citizens, the nation’s core principles and its Jewish minority, whose electoral weight cannot protect them from being politically expendable.
But here is where you misjudged. The vast majority of your citizens, Muslim, Jewish, and otherwise, reject terrorism. They may long for peace, but they also reject extremism. And they see through the game you are playing, one that dangerously allows the persistence of terror in service of your own self-serving narrative.
Israel, like all countries, is by no means perfect, but it holds profound historic, religious, and strategic importance. In just 80 years, it has transformed from desert to a beacon of resilience, innovation, and human progress. It has become a template for developing countries. To vilify it for domestic political gain, using manipulated narratives and misinformation, is not only irresponsible. It is immoral, and globally reckless.
It is also self-defeating. From life-saving medical breakthroughs to agricultural innovations and transformative technologies, Israel has contributed enormously to the advancement of humanity. Your proposed sanctions would not foster peace. They would only embolden terrorists and deprive your citizens of innovations they rely on to improve their lives every day.
As you know, our world is fragile at the moment. This is not a time for performative politics or to accept gratitude from terrorists. It is a time for principled leadership, to reverse course, retract your misguided threats, and condemn Hamas. The world is watching. And history will remember where you stood.
