"DIVINE OWNERSHIP" The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein." (Psalm 24:1)The Psalmist makes it clear that everything belongs to the LORD. The earth, the fulness of it, the world, and they that dwell therein. Therefore, HE owns it, not WE. How often we think of personal possessions as being ours. The fact is, we are but mere stewards over those things for a short time.Everything is from God and will return to God. Not just the physical things we see and deem as riches, but also honor, power, and authority. 1 Chronicles 29:11-12 tells us, "Thine, O LORD is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all." Whatever we have, whatever authority or influence we attain, it is all from God, and it will all return to God. He is All-Powerful and so all power is from Him and returns to Him. We need to get a grip on this truth so that we don't go all gung-ho and go ape by getting totally wrapped up in the idea of possessing things. Our home is not ours. Our clothes are not ours. Even our children are not ours. Everything belongs to God. If we think we own it, we will cling desperately to it and be grieved and can soon become bitter if it is suddenly taken from us. When we come to that moment in our life by realizing it is all God's and returns to God, we can then graciously thank Him every day for the short time we were blessed to be the caretakers of God's treasures.Friends, let's look all those things that are around us today. They belong to the One Who is Divine; they are not yours and they are absolutely not mine! Try to imagine a name tag on everything you and I see which reads, "ON LOAN FROM ALMIGHTY GOD." Now that certainly should change our attitude about those precious possessions we think belong to us.
