Matt 7:3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’, and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First, remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. (It’s so much easier to point out others' faults than to examine my own. The more I look for others' faults the more likely I am to ignore my own. Inconsistencies of those who profess to be Christ’s followers have turned more off than anything I know.
It is so ridiculous that we have one of the most humorous pictures in the Bible given by Jesus. A man with a big log is his eye is trying to get the little speck out of the other person’s eye. Mirroring the Pharisee's attitude toward publicans and proselytes Jesus said this is a picture of the nit-pickier who can’t even see how big a hypocrite they are when it is so glaring to everyone else. He said we can help correct others but only when our sin doesn’t exceed or measure up to what they are doing.
Every Pastor who falls or Christian worker who defames the name of Christ ought to cause us to constantly walk humbly with our God. Knowing that there but for the grace of God go ourselves. We are called to be light to a dark world but with a consistent life and a strong reliance on the power of God, who gives us strength to stand when people all around us are falling
