Is Your Life His?
Mark 8:35-37
“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
I know we used this text yesterday, but allow me to use it again today. In 1874 Francis R. Havergal wrote what she called a hymn of consecration and titled it, Take My Life And Let It Be. The first stanza goes;
“Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise”.
Have you ever given over your entire life for the Lord?
I am not asking just if you are saved. I am asking you if you are saved and have you went further with the Lord into that life of full consecration unto Him?
The fifth stanza of Havergal’s hymn of consecration goes;
“Take my will and make it thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own;
it shall be thy royal throne,
it shall be thy royal throne.”
What do you think it means to give your heart and life to Jesus Christ? The answer to my question may be found back in Mark 8:33 when Jesus rebuked Peter because Peter had rebuked the Lord for teaching about His coming death and resurrection.
Jesus “rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.”
What do you “savourest” the most in life, the things that be of God or the things that be of men?
Have you allowed your heart to become His royal throne?
