The Biblical account of the Exodus of the Israelites out of Egypt has had many that question the exact translation from ancient Egyptian to Hebrew to Greek to German to English. Actually, that would not be too consequential except for a few very important points. The most important being the spelling of the “Red Sea”. There has been considerable evidence brought to light that the original spelling should have been “Reed Sea”. That would have had Moses leading the Israelites East from Memphis to what is now an area called “Timsah Lake” (Some 80 Kilometers north of the Red Sea), where it was possible to walk across the shallow lake at low tide and as the tide came back in, it would have been deep enough to envelop the Pharaoh’s army that followed. This allowed the Israelites to travel East onto the Sinai Peninsula where they were led around in circles for forty years. This is much more plausible than the miraculous parting of the Red Sea. But you believe what you want to believe.
