"A Curious Anomaly"Imagine sitting in church on Sunday morning and the worship leader uses the name of Jesus in a profane way. You’d be extremely disturbed would you not? Then he does it again, several more times. By now your blood is boiling. Then the speaker brings out a beautiful young couple who proceed to disrobe in front of everyone and simulate sex. The whole place would be on their feet in holy horror demanding an end to this blasphemous effrontery. Twelve hours earlier many of those same worshippers, including their church leaders, sat in theaters watching movies that casually profaned the names of Jesus and God the Father, and portrayed beautiful young couples simulating sex, and thought nothing of it. It was entertainment, and they paid money to see it!The Apostle Paul warned his protégé, Timothy, that in the last days people would be “lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God…” and went on to say these same people have a “form of godliness” but no spiritual power.And we wonder why the church seems helpless to influence the culture.
