2 Timothy 3:5 - Having a f o r m of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.FORM: Those who have a f o r m of godliness only a p p e a r to be Christian but they are not.To be a babe in Christ is understandable ‘if’ you just recently been saved and introduced to church, but to s t a y a babe in Christ means you have r e f u s e to grow in Christ which is a shameful and rebellious act against God. When you stay a 'b a b e' it is a l m o s t impossible to recognize your real status (babe or one with form) before God. There are many in our churches, who have set in pews for ten, twenty, thirty, fifty years, but in their life, they are nothing but babes in Christ or they only have a f o r m of godliness.The b a b e in Christ and those who have a f o r m of godliness have the same characteristics:1. They only k n o w basic Bible stories, and have no idea of how to apply them in their life.2. They k n o w church hymns, but sing with their head down and in a low voice so as not to be heard. 3. They would d i e if asked to pray in public.4. They arrive church t a l k i n g about work, politics, sports, hunting, fishing, and leave church talking the same.5. They play on their phone i n s t e a d of listening to the message.6. They a p p e a r to be listening but their mind is on the game or already on tomorrow’s work.7. When others give an amen, the s h o c k of someone being excited about the preaching embarrasses or offends them.8. When they h a p p e n to listen and the preacher reads a verse that p o i n t s at their sin, they immediately become defensive within their mind instead of humbling themselves to the Holy Spirit.9. When the offering plate n e a r s their pew, they b a t t l e with themselves since they want to buy this or that, but if they give, they won’t have the funds available to purchase it.10. Then as you e x i t the church, you still have the nerve to shake the preacher’s hand, with a smile on your face, and say: “Good Preaching”, when you have no idea of what the message was about.Now, is this person just a b a b e in Christ or a person who only has a FORM of godliness?Neither you nor me, know w h i c h they are, but God will sort the tares from the wheat. Now, if you don’t know w h a t a tare is, it is a plant that has the form of wheat but is fake.
