Don’t be fooled: REAL ID is not just about boarding a plane. It’s about creating a national database — one that could be weaponized against law-abiding gun owners like you. Gun grabbers have been drooling for years over the idea of a national gun registry. REAL ID is the skeleton key they’ve been waiting for. Once fully operational, this federally standardized identification system could be merged with firearm purchase records, concealed carry permits, and other government databases to create a complete list of gun owners... ...and you can bet your last dollar they won’t stop there. The REAL ID database, better known as DANGEROUS ID, will contain the names, addresses, and biometric information -- like facial and retinal scans and fingerprints -- of EVERY AMERICAN. Government bureaucrats for years have salivated over having the power to have ALL of your personal information and to control how and where you travel. While there is a friendly administration in the White House today, what happens if an anti-gun Democrat like Gavin Newsom or Gretchen Whitmer wins the Presidency in 2028? You better believe they’ll abuse the REAL ID database to prevent you from purchasing firearms and even try to track down every gun you own. Of course, Republicans and Democrats alike are billing it as a way to keep us “safe,” but as we know from history, those who exchange freedom for safety will ultimately end up with tyranny. After all, Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner who drafted the Patriot Act that allows for the warrantless spying on American citizens is also responsible for giving us REAL ID. Aggressively anti-gun states like Illinois and California require their residents to obtain a special card with all their biometric and personal data just to buy a firearm. Is this the model the Trump Administration is seeking to adopt for the entire nation? Make no mistake, if you go to buy a firearm after May 7th, that is exactly what you are sending over to the Feds, and if someone like Newsom or Whitmer wins in the next election, they will have a perfect list of exactly who owns what and where to find you. Look, this isn’t just a slippery slope — it’s a sheer cliff. That’s why I’m counting on you to act RIGHT NOW. You see, it was Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem who took to social media to announce the pending enforcement of DANGEROUS ID on May 7th. It is in her authority to delay the implementation of it, as has been the case for more than a decade. What we’d like to see her and the Trump Administration do is indefinitely delay the implementation of DANGEROUS ID and work with Congress to send it to the trash bin of history. Here are three things you can do RIGHT NOW: • Call the Department of Homeland Security Comment Line at (202) 282-8495 and leave a simple voicemail message for DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. • Click here to go to the Department of Homeland Security’s Facebook page and leave a comment. • Click here to go to the Department of Homeland Security’s X page and leave a comment. Your message can be as simple as this: “Secretary Noem, I strongly urge you to block the implementation of REAL ID and to work with Congress to repeal it.” Talking heads in the media and even so-called “pro-gun” Republicans might try to brush you off or tell you it’s “too late” — don’t let them.
