How Well Do You Serve Others?
Galatians 5:13 says, “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.”
Our liberty or freedom of privilege in the church is to serve others. There are people in our world who believe they are entitled to certain rights or privileges. They believe the world owes them something. This kind of thinking is not the Christian way. As Christians our liberty we have in Christ is not for an occasion of our flesh or for the benefit of self but to serve others through love. Serving others is what Jesus Christ did when He came to this world and died on the cross. He came not to be ministered unto but to minister and give His life for others (Mark 10:45).
I have said at marriage retreats serving your spouse is a key to a joy filled marriage. But serving others is not just for the married. Every Christian should develop a servant mentality and seek ways to better serve others in the world. Serving others is the Christian’s privilege. When this privilege is exercised it gives the one serving joy and purpose in life.
