God Has An Army
2 Kings 6:15-17
“And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”
Elisha’s servant saw the enemy and thought “how shall we do”? Maybe he was filled with anxiety thinking the enemy was about to overtake them. He felt outnumbered but he did not have the faith to see what Elisha saw by his own faith. Elisha prayed and God opened his servant’s eyes and he saw God’s army, “the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha”. We must understand that Elisha knew by faith God’s angelic army was present.
God has an angelic army, ministering spirits that is innumerable. At His arrest Jesus reminded Peter that He could pray to the Father and He would send 12 legions of angels to fight for Him (Matthew 26:53).
Why do we worry and fret as we do? God and His army is on our side! If we could only see what was there we would be at peace. But if we could see, then there would be no need for us to have faith in God.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”- Hebrews 11:1
“(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)”
