"THE WONDER OF GOD'S WAY AND WORD"
"As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him." (Psalm 18:30)
One of the greatest truths in the Bible is found in those words, "the word of the LORD is tried:", yet it is one of the greatest readings that Christians neglect.
Down through the centuries, God’s people have molded their lives according to the principles of God’s Word. They have married, raised their children, decided their careers, invested their money, and set their ambitions according to the Word of God.
They have found in the Bible their comfort in times of illness, their direction in times of change, their supply in times of poverty, and their thankfulness in times of prosperity. But their greatest discovery has been their redemption found in the Person of Jesus Christ.
God’s Word has been tried, tested, and trusted by Christians throughout the ages and found it to be true. The Word of God was true when it was written, it's still true today, and it will go on being true forever. The Psalmist testified, "Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever" (Psalm 119:160) Believers have discovered, in every generation and in every imaginable circumstance, that God’s Way and Word is perfect. His counsel is always wise, His history is always accurate, His lessons are always true, and His commands are always relevant.
But the Psalmist was not merely teaching some academic lesson here. The message for you and I is that because God’s Word has been tried and tested by millions of saints in the past, and has been found perfect, then each of us should therefore build our lives on God's sure and solid foundation.
Friends, who do you look to for direction and for advice? Do you trust popular opinion, political orations, or personal observations to help you make decisions and find your meaning for existence; or do you go to God’s Word over and over again for counsel in every area of your life? Yes, "As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried:"
