Are You Growing In Grace?2 Peter 3:17-18“Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”These words are the apostle Peter’s closing words in his second epistle. He is encouraging the reader to know fully what he has just written. It will help us to not be led away with the error of the wicked or fall from our steadfastness of faith. Instead we need to grow in grace. Every Christian ought to be steadily growing. Recently I planted some Romaine lettuce plants. A few days later I went out to check on them and noticed one was very wilted. Upon inspection I saw that the plant had been cut off from its roots, probably a cut worm was the villain. There is no way a plant can grow when it is cut off from its roots system. The root system is what feeds the plant. And, there is no way a Christian can grow if that Christian is cut away from the source that feeds them. The root source for the Christian is the Word of God.In his first epistle Peter wrote in 1 Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”.Are you growing “thereby” the Word of God?If not, then why? Who is villain that is cutting you away from your root system?Do you daily feed yourself from the Word of God?
