The Many Lessons Of BirdsMatthew 6:26“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?”I do not consider myself a birdwatcher but I do know that because of this text and others and through observing birds Christians are taught valuable spiritual lessons. One great lesson is about worrying about the things or necessities of life. As God feeds the birds, who do not sow or reap or gather into barns, He more so feeds us His children who are of much more value than birds (Matthew 10:29-31). Think about the singing of the birds. They do not sing because they want to be heard or because they have an answer. They sing because they have a song within, that was given to them by their Creator. You and I will never have the answers of life that baffle and beset our minds, but we do know the One who we can trust to guide us through it all. We have the complete Word of God, we have the Holy Spirit, and if we look for it we have a song to sing!Think about the words to the hymn His Eye Is On The Sparrow (Civilla D. Martin - 1905). The third verse is seldom sung but is my favorite.“Whenever I am tempted,Whenever clouds arise,When songs give place to sighing,When hope within me dies,I draw the closer to Him;From care He sets me free:His eye is on the sparrow,And I know He watches me;His eye is on the sparrow,And I know He watches me.”Dear Christian find a song within and sing unto Jesus!
