Proverbs 12:1 - Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
INSTRUCTION: How do you r e s p o n d to instruction?
Is your f i r s t inclination to accept it, love it or hate it?
Your f i r s t response r e v e a l s if you are b r u t i s h or spiritual. Those who are spiritual rejoice when they are instructed.
However, those who h a t e reproof r e v e a l what's in the heart: a selfish, self-righteous, self-serving, person who will write their own version of truth that fits there life-style that's been justified by their own thoughts instead of instruction from the scriptures.
(2) Proverbs 15:32 - He that r e f u s e t h instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.
REFUSE: When you r e f u s e instruction you are teaching yourself that it is okay to despise your very own soul.
Everyone who t h i n k s it's okay to r e f u s e instruction think they are being clever as they attempt to 'out think' God and their situation instead of receiving reproof.
These t w o. verses c l e a r l y demonstrate the importance of listening to Bible preaching/teaching which differs from is heard in some churches, many podcast, and internet preachers.
Now, do you o f t e n refuse sound preaching/teaching or do you rejoice when God steps on your toes, or the times his word had to be like a hammer to get your attention?
(3) Jeremiah 23:29 - Is not my w o r d like as a f i r e? saith the LORD; a n d like a h a m m e r that breaketh the rock in pieces?
