“Do you despise preaching? Do you make light of it? Do you see it as unimportant? Has it stopped “benefitting” you?Have you grown so much in the Lord that you don’t need it as much? Do you mock it, hiss at it and grumble at it? Do you find reasons to stay away from it? Don’t!I Thessalonians 5:20-21“Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”The moment you turn from it you open yourself up to following and believing the errors of YOUR ways. You begin to stop embracing truth and you give yourself over to your own lies. The drifting away from truth, church, the Lord, and his people oftentimes begins with you believing you don’t need it as much as you did before. You actually begin to despise it. You would not say it openly to many, just a few…who are just like you. I Corinthians 1:21“For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”I Timothy 4:1-2“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;”II Timothy 4:1-4“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”Whatever it is that takes you away from preaching…is the very thing that needs to be repented of.”
