The Law, The Flesh & The Holy SpiritGalatians 3:1-3“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?”How foolish it was for the Galatian believers to go back under the law, working in their own selves trying to gain favor with God, when they began their Christian life through faith and receiving the Holy Spirit. For one to think they can keep themselves saved, gain special favor with God, or go onto maturity because they keep the law is foolish. The word foolish here means unwise or unintelligent. This was one of the reasons that Paul wrote his epistle to the Galatians, to refute the false doctrine that salvation and favor with God could come by keeping the law. Righteousness in Christ does not come by keeping the law, but faith in Jesus Christ and the working of the Holy Spirit in our heart.Galatians 3:6“Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” AMEN!
