Prepare Your Heart To Seek The LORD
2 Chronicles 12:14
“And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.”
This verse describes the character of the reign of Rehoboam. His reign was in evil. Why was it a reign of evil? Because he “prepared not his heart to seek the LORD”.
I have asked the following question to every professing Christian who has ever come to me desiring help in overcoming a sin.
The question “How is your personal devotion time with the LORD?”
Almost every time I get the same reaction and answer. The reaction is the head is bowed down and the answer mumbled is, “I hardly ever have any devotion time with the LORD.”
Why is it that any Christian thinks they can walk in victory over sin without a personal daily devotion time with God? I am talking about 30 to 45 minutes or more a day with God in which one reads, studies, and prays in which they are conscious of the fact that they are meeting with God.
There is a connection between the person who is bound and addicted to sin and the same person not having a personal and thriving daily devotional time with God. Rehoboam was a man who failed God. He reigned in evil. And his problem was he did not prepare his heart to seek God. His problem was a matter of his heart.
Do you daily prepare your heart to seek the LORD?
