What’s Your Life Verse?Many years ago I heard a man speak about having a life verse. A life verse is a verse or verses from the Bible in which challenges your heart daily and helps you to live for God. My life verse is John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”These words are spoken to us by Jesus. They speak of the greatest love ever known to mankind, the love of God. They speak of the proof of that love. God’s love for me was proven by Jesus Christ when He freely and willingly laid down His life for me (Romans 5:8). Christ paid the penalty of my sin, which is death (Romans 6:23).John 15:13 also challenges me to live my life for Christ and others by daily dying to self and my own selfish ways.Jesus said in Luke 9:23 “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”The cross always speaks of death. To me, a person who truly wants to live for Jesus and others must first daily die to himself. This is the love of God in action and on full display.Do you have a life verse in which you seek to live by?
