Forgiving Others
Ephesians 4:32
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.”
Refusing to forgive is not like God. If you are a Christian you need to know that refusing to forgive is not “even as God for Christ’s hath forgiven you”!
An unforgiving spirit is a byproduct of “bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking,… with all malice” (Ephesians 4:31).
An unforgiving spirit can eat away at a person like cancer. It kills any and all sweetness of a Christlike spirit.
An unforgiving spirit can lurk and not show itself until a great deal of damage has already been done. It can be hard to spot, harder to personally admit, and even harder to outwardly confess to God.
I have heard things like, “Who, me, an unforgiving spirit? But you don’t know how they have treated me, lied about me, and continually used me. I will forgive them when they come to me and ask for forgiveness?”
I remind us all that Jesus Christ died on the cross and shed His blood for our sins long before we ever confessed any of our sins to Him. He paid the price before the confession!
Think about it…. Are you harboring an unforgiving spirit towards someone, anyone who has done you or the people you love wrong?
If so, how can that be like Christ?
